Our cooperation: visit to Italy and Poland

The visit of Italian delegation in our school 
(31^st May 2003 – Saturday)

In days 6^th-7^th September 2003 delegation from town on Netta river stayed in a beautiful Italian town of Porto Ceresio, situated near the border with Switzerland. Our delegation entartained there onto an invitation from the authorities of Porto Ceresio. An Identical Arrangement about wide cultural, educational and economic co-operation was signed by the representatives of Augustów and Porto Ceresio. Nice accent of this visit was that our headmaster Marek Sznejder came into contact with local school and carried on a conversation about the co-operation between Primary School No 2 in Augustów named by king Zygmunt August and the school in Porto Ceresio. The headmaster of school in Porto Ceresio is Salvatore Merlino.
"The programme of this co-operation includes personal contacts of students from both school with the use of Internet, introduction of traditions and history of our towns and possibility of students' exchange"said Marek Sznajder after the arrival.
This initiative is the following step in making our students familiar with the idea of united Europe and gives the opportunity to break the language and curtural barrier. Before the day of our accesion to the European Union we would like to make our youngest generation feel as the full rights citizens of The United Europe. The acceptance of Pedagogical Council and large engament of our students in this project is certainly the announcement of various forms of co-operation. We hope to introduce our traditions and become promotors of our beautiful town and also enrich our knowledge about culture and traditions of our Italian friends. –added the headmaster of popular Primary School No 2 in Augustów. Next year about thirty students from our school will visit Italy.

PORTO CERESIO – The delegation of authorities of the Polish town Augustów was entertained yesterday morning in the town hall in Porto Ceresio. The aim of the visit was signing of Identical Arrangement. The Polish delegation under the leadership of Mayor Leszek Cieślik was entertained by the first citizen Giuseppe Francione and by the Town Council. The representatives of local authorities and associations such as the president of Comunita Montata ( The Mountain Community ) from Valceresio Luca Marsico,the president of Italian-Polish Economic Chamber from Milan – Olindo Teta, the director of Touristic Agency from Varese – Raffaelo Montagna, were present at the ceremony.
In the aim of better recognition the introducion of both towns was done. Exchange of gifts also took place.
The aim of the meeting of the headmaster of Complex of schools in Porto Ceresio – Mr Slavatore Merlino and the headmaster of school in Augustów Mr Marek Sznejder was the beginning of cultural exchange between both schools. After the visit in the town hall Polish guests visited the school and local sports base.
In the evening the ceremony of cutting the ribbon at the new passage by the lake took place. This passage connected the central square Bossin with the smaller one Sant Ambroggio near the parish church. On the day of holiday of name of  Saint Mary the traditional procession took place. The boats with lights carried the figure of Madonna from Selvapina across the lake. The ceremony was finished with fireworks.
The contacts between the representatives from two similar communities by the means of touristic and environmental aspect were started by the Association of Communities of Europe. The aim of common operations is the promotion of cultural, historical and environmental aspect.
Earlier the delegations from Italy under the leadership of Mr Giuseppe Fraccione visted Augustów, the town which has about 30 thousand of inhabitants, situated in Polish Lake District in the north – east of Poland near the border with Lithuenia and Belarus.
